What symptoms does BioTE help?
Research has demonstrated an improvement with the symptoms of menopause (ie. exhaustion, brain fog, irritability, sleep disturbances, and weight gain) depression, anxiety, low sex drive, fatigue, osteoporosis, heart disease.
How does it work?
The BioTE method is bio-identical hormone replacement therapy utilizing the pellet method of hormone replacement. (See below for more information about pelletting.)After a thorough assessment which includes hormonal lab studies, the BioTE method calculates a customized dose of pellet containing testosterone with or without estradiol to be placed under the skin.
Am I a good candidate?
Eligibility is based on medical history and hormonal lab studies.
How much does it cost?
Approximately $2,900+/ annually. Includes labs, office visits, pellets, and nutraceuticals.
Does it hurt?
Pellet placement is performed under local anesthesia. Most patients tolerate the procedure well with minimal discomfort. Some patients report mild tenderness at the pellet site that usually resolves after a few days.
What is the downtime?
There is no true downtime, but leg and glute exercises are not advised for 3 days after pelleting for women and for 7 days after pelleting for men.
How many treatments will I need?
Women are treated every 3-4 months, while men are treated every 5-6 months.
When will I see results?
Depending on the symptom, results may be seen as early 2-4 weeks, while some symptoms may take 6+ months to improve.
Are there any side effects?
While most patients tolerate the treatment well. Some potential side effects that may occur, especially if the nutraceuticals are not taken include breast tenderness, acne, hair loss, and recurrence of the menstrual cycle. These side effects usually resolve with the addition of nutraceuticals or an increase in nutraceutical dosage.

What to Expect

BEFORE
Prior to treatment patients will complete an assessment of symptoms, have hormonal lab studies, and a consultation.

DURING
Patient is positioned lying on the side. The insertion area on either buttock is anesthetized with a local anesthetic and the pellet is surgically placed under the skin. The insertion site is closed with steri-strips and a surgical dressing placed over the site. No stitches are needed.

AFTER
Pellet site may be tender for 7-10 days. No leg or glute workouts for 3 days for women and 7 days for men.
