Fillers
“Fillers have come a long way. I have been injecting fillers for almost 20 years. It’s amazing what is possible without surgery. I love the results and effects they have on patients. The best compliment I receive as an injector is when my patients’ closest friends and family tell my patients they look “rested”, but cannot figure out exactly what we’ve done. That means they look natural.” – Dr. Noll

FAQs
What types of fillers do you use?
We offer a variety of fillers but primarily use the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid fillers.
How does it work?
Dermal fillers are used to replace volume loss, fill in fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance and correct features. They are used to enhance the lips, nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty), chin, jaw, and earlobes. Most of the dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. When done properly dermal fillers can rejuvenate and enhance, without distorting the face as seen in some celebrities and the media.
Am I good candidate?
Most patients are candidates, but to be certain this is the right treatment for you, we require a consultation with your injector, Dr. Noll.
How much does it cost?
Price varies by the type of filler and the number of syringes needed. Discounts are available when multiple syringes are needed.
Does it hurt?
Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. While the numbing cream makes the treatment more comfortable, patients do experience some pinching during treatment. The lips are more sensitive. In addition to topical numbing, lip injections may also receive injection numbing.
What is the downtime?
There is no real down time but you may experience bruising and swelling for several days.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending on the filler used and the area treated, hyaluronic acid fillers typically last 1-2 years.
When will I see results?
Results are seen immediately after the procedure.
What to Expect
-
No dental work 2 weeks before or after treatments. Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before treatment. Avoid aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, (NSAIDs), vitamin E, fish oil, and other blood-thinning substances for 1 week. Continue taking prescribed medications. You may experience swelling and bruising for up to 2 weeks. We recommend not scheduling a procedure within 2 weeks of a major event. If bruising and swelling are concerns, take Arnica Montana under the tongue one day before treatment. Click here for a list of common over-the-counter medications and foods that may increase your risk of bruising.
-
Topical numbing will be applied to the treatment area. You may experience slight pinching during the injection.
-
Immediately after the treatment ice will be applied to the treatment area. Patients are instructed to continue to ice throughout the day and to sleep on their backs with their heads elevated on two pillows. Bruising and swelling may persist for several days following the procedure.

A Closer Look at Fillers
A Closer Look at Fillers
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are a safe, smooth gel substance made of hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found throughout the body. The HA used in fillers is derived through a process called bacterial fermentation. This process is very safe and the end product is bacteria-free.
Dermal fillers are used to fill, lift, enhance, and correct. Several factors cause the face to age: loss of soft tissue support like facial fat, loss of bony support, and loss of collagen and elastin within the skin itself. As a filler, dermal fillers are used to replace lost volume in areas like the temples, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, cheeks, lips, marionettes, and hands. By replenishing this volume loss, the filler lifts the skin, changing the way light reflects from the corrected area. The filled and lifted area will appear less shadowed and brighter as it is in youthful skin.
The other type of wrinkle dermal fillers are great for filling are the fine superficial lines at the surface of the skin. Dr. Noll calls these etchings. As we age, the skin loses collagen and elastin, the structural support within the skin needed to retain water and allow the skin to snap back from movement. Without the ability to retain water, the skin appears dry and wrinkled. Without the ability to snap back from movement, lines of movement become permanently etched into the skin. For example, the fine lines that can appear around the mouth. They radiate from the lips like spokes on a wheel. We call these lines, radial lip lines or smokers lines, even though many people who have them have never smoked. These etchings can be filled with “softer” fillers. Dermal Fillers are also used to enhance and correct features. Common areas of enhancement include the lips, nose, cheeks, chin, and jaw. Fillers can even out lip size if one lip is smaller than the other. They can fill notches in the nose to make the nose more even sloped or lifted at the tip. They can bring support to flattened cheeks and chin. They can also be used to strengthen the jawline or earlobes that can no longer support earrings.
There are several different types of fillers. In the Juvederm family alone, there are six different fillers: Ultra, Ultra Plus, Volbella, Vollure, Voluma, and Volux. Each filler has unique properties that make them ideal for specific corrections. Knowing which filler to use and where is Dr. Noll’s specialty. During your consultation, Dr. Noll will create a customized treatment plan to address your specific concerns. In general, Dr. Noll prefers to correct from the top down. For example, if the issue is the nasolabial fold between the nose and the mouth and there is significant volume loss in the cheeks, a more natural correction would be to fill the cheeks to an appropriate volume and then fill the nasolabial fold.
