Laser Hair Removal
“Laser hair removal is one of our most popular treatments. Our laser was specifically designed to do one thing and to do it well, laser hair removal. It is effective and most patients find the treatment well tolerated. Our patients enjoy no longer having to shave, wax, pluck, or thread, and it’s not just for women.” – Dr. Noll
FAQs
How does it work?
The laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and turned into heat. The heat is then absorbed by the surrounding hair follicle cells that are responsible for making new hairs and subsequently destroyed. No more new hairs.
Am I a good candidate?
The ideal hair and skin combination for laser hair removal is dark hair with light skin. In this instance, the laser is able to easily see the pigment in the hair follicle as it is not distracted by any surrounding skin pigment. While this is ideal, our laser is able to treat patients with other combinations of pigment. Unfortunately, the laser cannot see white or gray hair. Call today for your free consultation.
What areas can be treated?
Most hair-bearing areas can be treated. The most common areas include the face, armpits, chest, back, ears, arms, stomach, bikini, Brazilian, and legs.
How much does it cost?
$175-$500+/treatment (Cost varies by area. Prices are subject to change without notice)
Does it hurt?
The treatment is tolerable. More sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini areas are pre-treated with a topical numbing cream.
What is the downtime?
There is no downtime. Treated areas should be protected from sun exposure for two weeks.
How many treatments will I need?
All areas require multiple treatments because of the nature of the hair growth cycle. See below for more information about the hair growth cycle. On average, patients require 9-12+ treatment.
What to Expect
-
Avoid sun exposure 2 weeks before treatment. Do not pluck, wax, or thread the area before the procedure. Come with hair shaved or trimmed to the skin. No lotions or deodorant on the treated areas.
-
A series of treatment pulses will be passed over the skin in the areas being treated. The laser pulse feels like a rubber band snapping on the skin.
-
For two weeks following the treatment the treated area should be protected from direct sun exposure.

A Closer Look at Laser Hair Removal
A Closer Look at Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is considered long-term removal. However, it is possible for patients to see hair growth in the future in areas treated with laser hair removal. Sometimes this happens because of natural hormonal fluctuations, as in menopause, that can awaken sleeping follicles that were never treated during the laser hair removal sessions. The reason this happens is that laser hair removal only works on the hair follicles that are actively growing. In any given area there are thousands of sleeping hair follicles that are not actively growing hair. For example, if all follicles were in the same stage of growth then everyone would go through a phase of having no hair. Since the hairs are growing at different cycles, some hair follicles are growing while other follicles are sleeping. This also explains why multiple treatments are always needed and why some areas clear faster than others.
Since laser hair removal does not work on white, blond, or gray hair, patients always ask what options they have for these hairs. Unfortunately, the only long-term removal option for these hairs is electrolysis, a procedure we do not offer.
