FAQs
How does it work?
Our laser utilizes picosecond technology, the most effective technology available for tattoo removal. The laser is able to break up the tattoo ink into tiny particles that are small enough for the body’s clean up cells to gobble up and eliminate from the body.
Am I a good candidate?
Tattoo must be at least two months or older. Since the laser looks for color, we are not able to treat white or tan ink.
How much does it cost?
Cost varies by size. Prices start at $175+/ treatment. We offer individual and discounted treatment packages as multiple treatments are typically necessary. (Restrictions apply. Prices are subject to change without notice.)
Does it hurt?
As one of the most powerful lasers in the office there is some discomfort involved. We have found that icing immediately before the treatment is most helpful. Patients may also elect to apply topical numbing cream before arrival or add Pronox (laughing gas that improves comfort and anxiety) during the treatment.
What is the downtime?
While there is no true downtime. Some patients may experience redness, swelling, and soreness after the treatment. Some patients with very large tattoos (entire back or sleeve) may find it difficult to perform strenuous physical activity for 24-48 hours due to soreness.
For safety, we do recommend having a driver for eyeliner tattoos removal.
How many treatments will I need?
Patients typically require multiple treatments. Our packages include 8 treatment sessions. Very dark tattoos, blown ink, cover-ups, and tattoos that have been touched-up are the most difficult to remove.
What areas can be treated?
We can treat tattoos that are placed on the skin including the face, eyebrows, eyeliner, and inside of the lip.
When will I see results?
It may take several days to weeks to see the response after the treatment. Patients typically notice the tattoo is lighter than it was before treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Incomplete removal, darkening of ink, loss of pigmentation of the skin, blistering, and scarring are the possible side effects. On some occasions, the ink is placed too deep for the laser to reach. This results in a shadow remnant of the tattoo.
Blistering is never the goal, but can occur. It should be noted, however, that patients who have experienced blistering reported faster fading of the tattoo ink and complete healing of the blistered skin without scar.
What to Expect
-
Patients may elect to apply numbing cream up to an hour before treatment. Ice will be used to numb the treatment area, just prior to lasering.
-
Protective eyewear will be applied and the patient will feel a series of laser pulses over the treatment area.
-
After completion of the treatment a healing cream will be applied and tattoo covered.

What Determines Procedure Success
The tattoos we treat usually fall into one of five categories: amateur (done at home), professional, cosmetic, medical, and traumatic. Not all tattoos respond the same to removal. From our experience, amateur tattoos typically respond the best while professional tattoos can be more challenging. Tattoos that are cover-ups or very darkly pigmented tend to respond slower and require more treatments. One variable that is very difficult to determine is how deep the tattoo artist placed the ink. When the artist is heavy-handed, ink can be placed too deeply in the skin and out of reach of the laser. In these instances, the tattoo ink within reach of the laser will fade, while the deeper ink will be unreachable by the laser and will be seen as a shadow of the tattoo.
