What is SkinVive?
SkinVive, created by the makers of Juvederm, is the first and only injectable hyaluronic acid skin hydrator, designed to smooth the cheeks from within. It restores the natural glow and smooth texture of youthful skin.
How does it work?
SkinVive is a modified hyaluronic acid, designed to sit quietly under the skin as it attracts water to rehydrate dull dry skin. It is administered using a microdroplet technique that allows for even coverage.
Am I a good candidate?
Most adult patients, especially those with dry skin or who feel their skin has lost its youthful glow would benefit from SkinVive.
What areas can be treated?
SkinVive is indicated for the cheeks.
How much does it cost?
Each treatment comes with 2 syringes (2 ml total volume), one for each cheek. The cost of two syringes of SkinVive is roughly the cost of 1 syringe of filler.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is quite tolerable, with only a mild pinching sensation during treatment as the needles are very small and topical numbing cream is applied before the treatment.
What is the downtime?
There is no downtime but patients may experience bruising and swelling for 1-2 weeks.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatments are repeated every 6 months.

What to Expect

BEFORE
If prone to bruising, it is recommended that any medication that increases the risk of bruising be discontinued one week before treatment. Click here for the complete list. We also recommend abstaining from alcoholic beverages the night before the treatment and caffeine the morning of treatment.

DURING
Most patients tolerate the treatment well. The area will be numbed with a topical anesthetic. The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes after numbing.

AFTER
Ice is applied to the treated area immediately after treatment. Patients are instructed to continue icing throughout the remainder of the day and to sleep on two pillows to help minimize swelling.
