Dermal fillers are safe, smooth gel substances made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance found throughout the body. The HA used in fillers is derived through bacterial fermentation, which is very safe and bacteria-free.
Dermal fillers are used to fill, lift, enhance, and correct areas of the face that have experienced age-related changes. Several factors contribute to facial aging, including the loss of soft tissue support such as facial fat, a reduction in bony support, and a decline in collagen and elastin within the skin. There are several types of fillers available. The following are the six options for the Juvederm family alone:
Each filler has unique properties suited for different corrections. Knowing which filler to use where is one of Dr. Noll’s specialties.
No dental work two weeks before or after treatments. Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before treatment. Avoid aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen (NSAIDs), vitamin E, fish oil, and other blood-thinning substances for one week. Continue taking prescribed medications.
You may experience swelling and bruising for up to two weeks. We recommend not scheduling a procedure within two weeks of a major event. If bruising and swelling are concerns, take Arnica Montana under the tongue one day before treatment. Topical numbing will be applied to the treatment area. You may experience slight pinching during the injection.
Immediately after the treatment, ice will be applied to the treatment area. Patients are instructed to continue ice therapy throughout the day and to sleep on their backs with their heads elevated on two pillows. Bruising and swelling may persist for several days following the procedure.

Most of the dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the body. When done properly, dermal fillers can rejuvenate and enhance, without distorting the face as seen in some celebrities and the media.
Most patients are candidates, but to be certain this is the right treatment for you, we require a consultation with your injector, Dr. Noll.
Price varies by the type of filler and the number of syringes needed. Discounts are available when multiple syringes are needed.
Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. While the numbing cream makes the treatment more comfortable, patients do experience some pinching during treatment. The lips are more sensitive. In addition to topical numbing, lip injections may also receive injection numbing.
There is no real downtime, but you may experience bruising and swelling for several days.
Depending on the filler used and the area treated, hyaluronic acid fillers typically last one to two years.
Results are seen immediately after the procedure.
